We are currently seeking motivated candidates for the following positions. Please contact Andrew Xiao if you are interested in applying.
Postdoctoral Associate:
Our ongoing research focuses on the following areas: 1) Novel DNA modifications in mammals, their machineries and their biological functions; 2) Novel chromatin/histone mechanisms underlying preimplantation embryo development and cellular reprogramming; and 3) The functions of these epigenetic mechanisms in early embryogenesis, adult tissue stem cells, and human diseases, especially cancer.
General requirements:
Well-trained in biochemistry and molecular biology; cell and developmental biology; or genomics, epigenetics, and bioinformatics/computational biology. The scholarship of candidates must be demonstrated by a solid publication record, as well as the ability to tackle challenging research problems.
Ability to lead an independent research direction while adapting to a collaborative, stimulating environment.
As our investigation often involves developing innovative experimental and computational approaches, candidates are expected to acquire new research skills.
An innovative and critical thinker.
Candidates with the following research experiences are highly encouraged to apply:
Pre-implantation embryos (zygotic-to-blastocyst stage) and cellular reprogramming
Germ cells
Bioinformatics and genomics
Neural development
Tumorigenesis
Human and primate ESCs and/or iPSCs
Epigenetics and chromatin biology
Biochemistry of histone, DNA, and RNA modification enzymes
Nuclear cell biology and super-resolution imaging
Immunology and infectious diseases
Lab Manager:
A lab manager position is available in the Xiao lab.
Main responsibilities:
Coordinate lab purchases, maintain general equipment, and organize lab events and activities.
Provide assistance to laboratory research, such as immunostaining, PCR, or molecular cloning.
Mouse colony management.
Maintain lab database for reagents and/or sequencing results.

The candidate needs to have experience in at least one of these areas and be willing to learn the others on the job. An ideal candidate may hold a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in biology or related subjects and is familiar with basic molecular biology, genetics, or biochemistry techniques. She/he is a great communicator, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Postgraduate Research Associate:
A post-baccalaureate research position is available. This position is ideal for someone who wants to gain experiences in order to explore career opportunities in medicine or biomedical sciences. The position typically lasts 1-2 years.
General requirements:
Enthusiastic about experimental or computational biology.
Strong commitment to rigorous research.
Holds a B.S. degree in Biology or a related subject.
Prior research experience.
A quick learner.
The post-bacc researcher will assist current research in the Xiao lab under the supervision of current postdoctoral fellows or graduate students in the lab.
